Hey y’all! Happy Friday. Really, really excited to head into the weekend. I’ve got a charity event and some other fun things planned, but always happy to take a break from the work week. Here are a few things I’ve been loving lately.
Digit
A few months ago I talked about some money saving apps I was using and I’ve added another to my arsenal. Digit is another micro-saving app that makes it easy to save without even thinking about it. You can make funds like one for a rainy day, one for an upcoming vacation, or one to pay off your credit card, school loan, etc.. Digit will take a small amount (you set the maximum limit) every few days and put it in your fund. After the first 100 days, there is a $3 monthly fee, but for what you mindlessly save, I think it’s worth it. You can sign up for Digit here to start saving!
Acorns
Another app that I previously mentioned but wasn’t quite using yet at the time is Acorns. This is linked to your debit/credit card and rounds up your change and saves/invests it. I’ve easily saved almost $400 dollars with this app by rounding up my change and adding an additional $10 monthly. Depending on your spending habits, this could really be a helpful tool! Get $5 for signing up using my code.
Brooks
I work part-time as a footwear associate but that has nothing to do with my affinity for shoes and especially for good shoes. I used to hate running because I’d think “wow this hurts my entire body, why do people do this?” but it wasn’t until I invested in better running shoes than a crappy, lightweight Nike, that I realized I wasn’t giving my body what it needed in a shoe. Last year I ran in the Brooks Revel, which is modeled after their Ghost shoe. This year I’m running in the Revel 2 – super comfortable, breathable, and responsive. So if your whole body hurts after a run, try upgrading your shoe game! (Running still kinda sucks tbh)
Listening
I start playing music the minute I’m up and getting ready in the morning. I’m notorious for repeatedly listening to music on repeat, as of late it’s been a lot of the recent DMB record, Ryan Montbleau, and as always, The Avett Brothers. So here’s a mix of what I’ve been singing to in my car lately.
Adversity
Everyone faces adversity in their lives, but how they choose to handle it is what defines them. I’ve faced my fair share and sometimes I’m begging for a break from it. But I’ve learned to take each obstacle as an opportunity to grow. A heart to heart with my sister earlier this week taught me that the best things happen when you’re challenged and pushed outside of your comfort zone. That’s when you grow! Our dad always taught us to “choose your attitude” and it’s something I’ve lived by every day, and I wanted to share that with you. You can never pick the hand you’re dealt, but you can always decide how you’re going to play it. Own it and grow.
