Tap, tap, tap… this thing still on? I’m back friends! I’m still on that ~New Year, New Me~ grind, so I’m trying to do things a little differently and try some new things. Part of that is bringing this blog back to life. I originally started this because I work in influencer industry and it seemed easy – plot twist, it’s not. I really wanted a platform to post my piece on grief on and I didn’t think much past that. But I love to write and I think this is a great way to keep writing things outside of my job, it’s a nice break! So, today I’m sharing 5 things I’ve been loving lately and I hope you enjoy!
Ugh, my heart. R.M. Drake found fame by way of Instagram by sharing lines and short poems to his page. I have always enjoyed poetry, in fact I took a few poetry classes in college, so of course I love this type of writing. I think the number of pages with the corners folded in poetry books says a lot about you. I love ending my night by reading through his books and really reflecting on how his words make me feel.
Every so often he does a sale on his four book bundle and one day I pulled the trigger. I suggest following him on Instagram and if you love him as much as I do, I think you’ll end up buying his books, which you can find here.
I’ve never been much of a cooker, not that I’m bad at it, but I eat the same things often and I’m usually cooking for just me. But I signed up for HelloFresh to 1. Avoid going to the grocery store and 2. Try some new things. So I read some mixed reviews before ordering but I honestly LOVE this subscription. You can skip weeks you don’t want and cancel whenever. I’ve never made a pork chop in my life and would never think to – but this past weekend I made a maple glazed pork chop that got the stamp of approval from my mom…which is almost like winning the lottery, almost. If you want to try, you can get $40 your first order using my code: CARLYDICO at check out or by following this link. I 10/10 recommend it!
I got a free trial of Sirius XM radio when I got my new car and it’s a big change for me because I hardly ever listen to the radio, but the CoffeeHouse station of XM has changed that. I love love love acoustic versions of anything and that’s all this station is. Some of it is popular artists like John Mayer, Maroon 5, Goo Goo Dolls and such but it’s also introduced me to a lot of new songs and musicians. If you have XM you neeed to listen to this station!
I’ve been loving this song by James TW this week. “You see through my heart’s misty window and out of all the fingerprints, only yours will show,” I mean, come onnnnn this song is so beautiful!
Wow so ~basic~ of me – but I’m learning to like coffee and tea, which is very new for me. I’m almost 26 and I think I’m learning to like both. My favorites are the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew and the Medicine Ball (aka – the Honey Citrus Mint Tea). I do not like hot drinks, but a serious head cold plagued me in early March and I needed the warmth combined with honey and lemon for my throat. Now I think the tea is just delicious and I get it all the time!

I agree, this is so weird. I gained some added expenses heading into 2018 that I didn’t have to worry about last year (i.e. a car payment and car insurance), and honestly it sucks. So I decided to write down all my monthly payments. In one column, payments like my school loan, car/insurance, rent, etc. and then in another column monthly subscriptions like Spotify, my gym, Delta Sonic, etc.. I realized I’m spending a lot on leisurely monthly things so I’m vowing to cancel them one by one.
I downloaded the app Truebill – which finds your recurring payments, helps lower costs of certain bills, and helps you track your money/spending. As recurring payments come in, it dings you – you might be surprised you’re still paying for old subscriptions you never use! The app also suggested I use Acorns (which I’ve heard about) – it’s an app that rounds up your change and invests it. Saving without thinking – smart!!
And there are five things I’ve been loving lately! Happy Friday and enjoy your Easter weekend!
